Alone and without any means of support, he is forced to live in a Soviet orphanage that once served as his family’s beloved home. He flees to Paris to find his uncle has died but his beautiful and mysterious Japanese widow, Lady Murasaki welcomes him. Even her kindness and love cannot soothe the nightmares and sorrows that plague him. Showing a cunning aptitude for science he is accepted into medical school, which serves to hone his skills and provide the tools to exact justice on the war criminals that haunt him day and night. This quest will ignite an insatiable lust within a serial killer who was not born, but made.

Pan's Labyrinth--

A fanciful and chilling story set against the backdrop of a fascist regime in 1944 rural Spain. The film centers on Ofelia, a lonely and dreamy child living with her mother and adoptive father; a military officer tasked with ridding the area of rebels. In her loneliness, Ofelia creates a world filled with fantastical creatures and secret destinies. With post war repression at its height, Ofelia must come to terms with her world through a fable of her own creation.

Rated R for graphic violence and some language.

Arthur and the Invisibles--

It all began with a cryptic message left in an old book of magic spells. "To find the country of the Minimoys, trust in Shakespeare." Arthur knows that this is a sign from his Grandpa Archibald, who disappeared mysteriously four years ago. But where is he? Where is the treasure trove of rubies that it is said he brought back from Africa? Arthur's Grandma could really use it to pay off all the debts that have accumulated since her husband disappeared. Time is running out. If Grandma doesn't pay her creditors very soon, the house and garden will be demolished and replaced by austere concrete high rises. It's 10 year old Arthur, whose pint size stature conceals huge resources of intelligence, bravery and daring, who finds the passage into the world of the Minimoys, these tiny little beings who are barely two millimeters tall. It's a fabulous land nestling in the grass of Arthur's back yard, a world like none you have ever seen before! A mesmerizing world full of surprises that Arthur discovers in the volatile company of Minimoy Princess Selenia. They set off to find Archibald and his rubies, but don't go thinking it'll be easy! Any number of dangers lie in wait for them, beginning with The Evil M and his horrible Seide warriors. One last piece of advice before you start reading this story: don't ever say the word "Maltazard" out loud! Ignore this warning at your peril! Will our three heroes succeed in outwitting the diabolical Maltazard?

Stomp the Yard--

A young dancer from a troubled background in Los Angeles finally finds his calling in life as two fraternities compete for his skills when he enrolls at a university in Atlanta.

Apocalypto--

When his idyllic existence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force, a man is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him. Through a twist of fate and spurred by the power of his love for his woman and his family he will make a desperate break to return home and to ultimately save his way of life.
Rated R for sequences of graphic violence and disturbing images.

Letters From Iwo Jima--
Sixty one years ago, U.S. and Japanese armies met on the island of Iwo Jima. Decades later, several hundred letters are unearthed from that stark island's soil. The letters give faces and voices to the men who fought there, as well as the extraordinary general who led them, Tadamichi Kuribayashi. With little defense other than sheer will and the volcanic rock of the island itself, Gen. Kuribayashi's unprecedented tactics transform what was predicted to be a quick and bloody defeat into nearly 40 days of heroic and resourceful combat. In an effort to explore an event that continues to resonate with both cultures, Clint Eastwood was haunted by the sense that making only one film, "Flags of Our Fathers," would be telling only half the story. With this unprecedented dual film project, shot back to back to be released in sequence, Eastwood seeks to reveal the battle of Iwo Jima; and, by implication, the war in the Pacific as a clash not only of arms but of cultures.
Rated R for graphic war violence.

The Good German--
Berlin, 1945. U.S. war correspondent Jake Geismer has just arrived to cover the upcoming Potsdam Peace Conference, where Allied leaders will meet to determine the fate of a vanquished Germany and a newly liberated Europe; in the process, carve up what's left of any value for themselves. It's not Jake's first visit to Berlin. He once managed a news bureau here. He once fell in love here. But that seems a lifetime ago as he takes in the staggering devastation on the jeep ride from the airport to his hotel in the American zone. Jake's driver, Corporal Tully, exudes small town American charm. An eager, guileless, good natured kid from the Midwest. In reality, he's corrupt to the core, bartering anything and anyone, and playing all sides for the highest price. But that's not unusual. Everyone in Berlin has a secret now. Everyone is working an angle to get what they need: money, power, survival, or just a way out. Tully's black market dealings don't interest Jake, but Tully's girlfriend does. She's Lena Brandt, Jake's former love, although somehow, now, not quite the person he once knew. She has been irrevocably changed by the war, the hardship of life in this ruined city and the burden of her own secrets. When Tully ends up in the Russian zone with 100,000 marks in his pocket and a bullet in his back, Jake finds himself drawn into the mystery of this murder, and the bigger mystery of why both the American and Russian authorities look the other way.
Rated R for language, violence and some sexual content.

Music and Lyrics

Alex Fletcher is a washed up 80s pop star who's been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem; Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics, and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days. Enter Sophie Fisher, Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship, Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment phoebe Alex. As their chemistry heats up at the piano and under it, Alex and Sophie will have to face their fears, and the music, if they want to find the love and success they both deserve.

Rated PG-13 for some sexual content.

When Gray turns to her fiancés friends for emotional support, she discovers that there were a few things she didnt know about her late beau. Breaking and Entering

Rated R for sexuality and language

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus

A biopic about the life of photographer Diane Arbus, considered one of the most mysterious, enigmatic, and frighteningly bold artists of the 20th century. Most known for her obsession with freak subject matter, her haunting work emerged from a deeply private place. Arbus' death was as mysteriously tragic as was the aura surrounding some of her most piercing portraits.

Rated R for graphic nudity, some sexuality and language.

Ladies in Lavender

Based on a short story by William J. Locke, two spinster sisters, Ursula and Janet, live in an old house by the sea in 1930s Cornwall, England. Their pleasant but uneventful routine of beach walks, reading, sewing, and tea time is interrupted when Andreas, a handsome young Polish violinist washes ashore, barely alive. The girls nurse him back to health and for the never married Ursula it's a case of first love far too late in life. She helps him overcome the language barrier, only to possibly lose him to a younger woman, the gorgeous visiting artist who recognizes his musical talent and is in a situation to help him. It's a simple story, though a perfect showcase for the mastery of Dench and Smith, two of the greatest thespians of all time. The director, Charles Dance, is a major British actor himself, thus his grasp of the myriad subtleties of the art is spot on here in his directorial debut. Period detail is also of key importance, and cinematographer Peter Biziou captures the invitingly homey yet windswept otherness of the locale and time. Music is also a key component here, and the violin passages attributed to Andreas are stunningly emotional.

Moral Orel Vol. 1

Part of the Adult Swim network's attempt at producing cartoons for mature audiences. This first volume of episodes from the show centers around young Orel, a God fearing boy whose attempts to follow the Bible often end in disaster. Luckily Orel believes that God is guiding him even when he descends into drug addiction, giving him a morally skewed look at the world that is as refreshing as it is funny.

Who the $#%& is Jackson Pollock?
When Teri Horton, a 73 year old former long-haul truck driver with an eighth grade education bought a painting in a thrift shop for five dollars, she didn't know that it would pit her against the most powerful people in the art community; and perhaps forever change the way art is authenticated around the world. Who The #$&% Is Jackson Pollock? is a rollicking adventure that documents a 15 year war with the art world's inner circle. It lifts the veil on how art is bought and sold in America and introduces audiences to the funny, profane and utterly unforgettable Teri Horton.
Rated PG-13 for some language

When she meets a mentally damaged man and a tall ghost like woman, the line between her imagination and reality quickly disappears. Tideland is a spine chilling tale from the visionary mind of acclaimed director Terry Gilliam.
Rated R for bizarre and disturbing content, including drug use, sexuality, and gruesome situations; all involving a child, and for some language

American Hardcore
Generally unheralded at the time, the early 1980s hardcore punk rock scene gave birth to much of the rock music and culture that followed. There would be no Nirvana, Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chili Peppers were it not for hardcore pioneers such as Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat. Hardcore was more than music; it was a social movement created by Reagan era misfit kids. The participants constituted a tribe unto themselves˜some finding a voice, others an escape in the hard edged music. And while some sought a better world, others were just angry and wanted to raise hell. American Hardcore traces this lost subculture, from its early roots in 1980 to its extinction
in 1986.
Rated R for pervasive language including sex and drug references
